As we have discussed on this blog before, there is a definitive need for workplaces to strategically support women, especially mothers and caregivers, in the return to in-person working. Being purposeful in designing flexible working policies that support women ensures that we establish a culture of working that is not only flexible, but equitable as well.
Mothers and caregivers have unique challenges, and therefore unique needs, to take into consideration as organizations are establishing their “return to work” plans. We invited Katelyn Denning of Mother Nurture to discuss these challenges and needs with us.. Katelyn is a life coach who helps busy, working moms manage their time, be more present, and truly enjoy their lives. She herself is a mom of three young kids, and has navigated a “return to work” pre-pandemic several times.
In our conversation, Katelyn and I discuss the unique position that employers are in right now to re-design flexible workplace structures that support working mothers and caregivers. If you follow Katelyn on Instagram, you know that she has a calm, positive, and empathetic demeanor when discussing some of the most challenging aspects of working and caring for others. This interview is no different!
In the spirit of positivity, Katelyn and I discuss what there is to be excited for right now as we shift back to in-person working, both from the organizational side and the individual side. The uncertainty that plagued most of us for the past year and a half isn’t going away as more of us get vaccinated and safely return to “normalcy” – in fact, uncertainty is normalcy. It is from that platform that Katelyn speaks on embracing the upcoming changes and establishing a work culture that works for organizations and working parents and caregivers.
I hope you will join us for this discussion – it’s a good one!
