In recognition of Women’s History Month, AAR Corporation in Chicago’s women’s resource group “X Network” invited us to host a program for all employees. Our focus for the program was building confidence, where we focused on:
Identifying ways that a lack of confidence can present itself and how this impacts a woman’s voice in the workplace
Assisting participants in identifying and clearly articulating their strengths
Building tools to practice confidence and putting them into action
In exploring the way that second generation gender bias may be impacting women’s voices and confidence levels in the workplace, we were able to uncover some of the ways that women in the room had been holding themselves back personally and professionally. By practicing leading with our strengths and owning our accomplishments, we are able to combat these confidence barriers on a daily basis.
