Brighton Center is a local non-profit whose mission is to create opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency through family support services, education, employment and leadership. We were thrilled to be welcomed back to Brighton Center to present an Uncovering Unconscious Bias training to staff across multiple offices and departments. In the two hour training, we introduced the concept of implicit bias and assessed our own. We explored the impact of bias on our relationships with others, as well as discussed situations where we are more prone to experiencing it. Finally, we dug deep into bias-related problems to determine their root causes and ideate solutions using a problem tree. The best part? Brighton Center staff will continue the conversation with those unable to attend using the customized two hour discussion guide that we created for them!
